In May 2006, the PATH OF VISIONARIES was first opened as a temporary installation under the patronage of Jean-Claude Juncker, former president of the EU commission and Viviane Reding, European Commissioner for Justice, Fundamental Rights and Citizenship. In collaboration with all of the EU-Member States, 27x 1,2-square-meter plaques embedded in the ground of the pedestrian zone of the Berliner Friedrichstrasse were presented.
The PATH OF VISIONARIES aims at setting a sign for the common values of the different cultures. For each EU-Member State, it displays a quotation from an outstanding personality from the corresponding country. The quotations are elected by a prominent Jury among the propositions suggested by the embassy of each participating state.
2022: The opening of the permanent installation PATH OF THE VISIONARIES – SIGN FOR EUROPE will take place on Saturday, May 14th 2022 with a street festival in the pedestrian zone of Berlin's Friedrichstraße, as the crowning finale of the redesign of the surrounding area.
In the following construction phases, the permanent installation will be extended by the plaques of the UNESCO-Member States. The location is still open. One suggestion is to continue the path along the sidewalks of Berlin Friedrichstrasse up to Oranienburger Tor.
August 2020: Start of production of the `Panels of Nations` by the sculptor Rainer Fest.
February 2020: Signing of the contract for the construction of the permanent installation PATH OF VISIONARIES - SIGN FOR EUROPE between the association KUNSTWELT e.V. BERLIN represented by the chairwoman Ms. RA Kristijana Penava and the Land of Berlin represented by the district office-Friedrichshain Kreuzberg, Mr. Baustadtrat Florian Schmidt.
2018: after years of contruction works of the BVG (Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe)the redesign of the Mehringplatz and the pedestrian zone of Friedrichstrasse startet.
September 23, 2013: On the occasion of handing over the official quotation contribution for the Kingdom of Thailand, the Thai poet and philosopher Naowarat Pongpaiboon visited the PATH OF VISIONARIES OF THE WORLD. Mr. Pongpaiboon was accompanied by Her Excellence the Ambassador Mrs. Nongnuth Phetcharatana, as well as other members of the embassy, and Mrs. Phiranai Chotikanta, Director of the Cultural Networking Cooperation Group from the Thai Ministry of Culture in Bangkok.
November 5, 2012: The ambassador of Jamaica, H. E. Ms Joy Elfreda Wheeler, and Ms Claudia Grotz visited Kunstwelt. The purpose of the meeting was to show Ms Wheeler the progress of the project PATH OF VISIONARIES and discuss different versions of the German translation of the Bob Marley quotation.
October 19, 2012: On the occasion of the visit of the Philippine parliamentary delegation under the direction of Ms Henedina Abad, Chair of the Committee for Culture and Education, the ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines, H. E. Ms Maria Cleofe Natividad, held a reception at the PATH OF VISIONARIES. A replica of the Philippine plaque was unveiled, which is now placed in the entrance of the Philippine Embassy.

24th of September 2012:: Nobel peace prize laureate and former president of Timor Leste, José Ramos-Horta, visited the Kunstwelt team to inform himself about the project PATH OF VISIONARIES and to support the participation of his own country.
June 23rd 2011:: The Director General of UNESCO, Mrs. Irina Bokova, personally unveiled the UNESCO plaque for the PFAD OF THE VISIONARY OF THE WORLD at the location of KUNSTWELT e.V. BERLIN in Friedrichstraße 1. The city art project stood for the permitted 2 ' two years under the patronage of Mrs. Bokova.
In 2006, 2007 and 2008 the supporting association KUNSTWELT e.V. BERLIN organized the EUROPAFESTIVAL-BERLIN along the southern part of Friedrichstraße as well at Mehringplatz (www.europafestival-berlin.de).
The EUROPAFESTIVAL was held under the patronage of the former major of Berlin Klaus Wowereit.
